Ronnie dog

Betty enjoys a bone

Today I have to run to the grocery store. I was hoping that I’d be able to leave “the kids” loose in the house together, but it’s not going to happen.

I’m finding that Betty plays to rough and takes advantage of Ronnie, who seems to have a sizable crush on her. Betty didn’t have siblings to play with when she was growing up. And she quickly grew larger than her two companions, a cocker spaniel and a pug. So there was no one to correct her if play became too intense. So now I’m having to act as mamma dog and step in when necessary.

Within a few weeks, I’m sure she’ll play more calmly. I once had another dog that had never learned how to play, and had to teach him appropriate behavior. So I know it can be done.

And I can’t just put Ronnie in another room yet. He’s tried to chew a sneaker, and this morning a table leg. He’s a bit of thief too, and tries to steal anything laying on a table.

Time to pull out the large dog crate in the garage.
